General Litigator and Lawyer for Youth and their Families

My Story

Marianne E. Brown is an experienced trial attorney in the state and federal courts, also specializing in education and juvenile law. Marianne is a graduate of Haverford College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  She has over 25 years’ experience in a wide range of cases in state and federal courts and various administrative bodies.  Marianne continues to represent her business clients in a variety of disputes across Massachusetts.  She now has an active juvenile law practice in front of the Board of Special Education Appeals, the Juvenile Court and the Probate Court. In 2011, she obtained her teacher’s certificate from Framingham State University (studying child psychology, special education law and other topics and graduating with a 4.0 GPA and election to the Kappa Delta Pi honors society.) Marianne taught in Arlington High School and Andover High School and Walsh Middle School in Framingham before returning to the practice of law as a general litigator and education attorney. In 2022, Marianne was named by Thomson Rueters a Super Lawyer in Schools and Education Law in Massachusetts.

In her work  as an education lawyer, Marianne brings her “inside knowledge” of the schools and the special education system to her longstanding career as a trial attorney.  She has represented numerous graduate and professional students successfully challenge dismissals and disciplinary proceedings, and she has fought for disability accommodations for both undergraduate and graduate students in the Boston area and beyond.  Ms. Brown is sensitive and pragmatic:  she advises from behind the scenes on how to work cooperatively with education personnel and navigate the system, and she offers aggressive and experienced advocacy when the need arises.

Ms. Brown is admitted to the Massachusetts state and federal courts and the United States Supreme Court.  She has tried numerous jury trials in state and federal court over the years, and many appeals, administrative hearings, mediations and arbitrations.  Ms. Brown continues to offer her services to litigation clients. She is nationally ranked pre-eminent in both the practice of law and attorney ethics, AV ®, by Martindale-Hubbell.
